I noticed an abandoned boat, motor and trailer at our local school. It sat for 7 days, it was slated to be towed by the city tomorrow. I did them a community service by taking it away for them.
The boat is a piece of crap, a Bayliner Bass boat that has seen better days. But it was what was on the back that was so unreal. It was a '63 Merc 1000. I just happen to be restoring a '63 Merc 1000. The lower end is toast, but it has all the parts and turns over. The best part of it all; it had the original face plate in decent condition. These are as rare as hen's teeth. Dr. Frankenmerc and I were both looking for one. Sorry Thom, unless I end up in jail for taking this boat away, IT'S MINE!
Oh, there was also a 7.5 Merc in the bottom of the boat. The trailer is perfect. Trash the boat (evidence) and keep the rest.

Can't beat a deal like that. Those parts are worth a bunch for you as having a 1000 already.
