TOPIC: Shift shaft measurement for a long shaft 15 HP

I don't have a manual for this little Merc. It is a long shaft 15 HP, about a 1990ish. Serial number 0C222----
I know I have the serial number on my desk,...SOMEWHERE,...But current 'digs' have not located it.
I need to know the length that a long shaft lower shift shaft needs to measure to be accurate for shifting after assembly.

Hi, Doc, for a long shaft motor, 22 inches measured from the top of the water pump base to the center of the shift shaft hole.

Found that info in the online Merc service manuals at www.Boatinfo.no .

Note that the previous page has you shifting to Neutral before checking the shift shaft length.
