TOPIC: The MAYTAG repair man may get bored,...BUT

The MAYTAG repair man may get bored,...BUT 9 years 3 months ago #114230

When the sun comes out,...There is rarely a boring moment in the lives of a Marine Engine Technician,...BUT
Today I locked the door to the Mercury Magic Shoppe and actually did some boating with fellow enthusiasts.
It was primarily a Glasspar G-3 and other classic small speedboat gathering, but since my wife is unable to physically tolerate the rough ride of a small runabout these days, I left the 850xs powered G-3 home and bought the larger vee-hull, which is a much smoother ride in rough water.
The weather was awesome and the water was rough, but tolerable in the larger vee-bottom.
The other boats included a couple G-3s, a pickle-fork tunnel boat powered by a big v-4 OMC, Pete's home-built, and very magnificent wood runabout, a flat-bottom Schaida powered by a 1500xs, and a dual cockpit small polished aluminum runabout powered by a Mark 55E.
Momma enjoyed the rare day on the water, and I think all the other folks at the gathering enjoyed the day and a ride in the 'bad boy' vee-bottom.
I got seriously sunburnt and stuffed with goodies from the cooler.
Tomorrow I will hit the ground running once again in the MMS, but today was an awesome break.

Had a great time Thom, all Ed and I talked about on the way home was how damn fast your boat is! Loved all the boats and the good folks - perfect way to spend a Sunday.

"I specifically heard the doc say 'don't tell Robby'"

I don't think so Seymour!

Robby, we went to Lake Spencer in Mason County, WA 98584
Sorry I didn't invite you pal, we had room in the boat too. :(
My greatest concern was whether or not my wifey-pooh was going to be physically able to enjoy the day.
She took a cruise with me, and then rested on the beach with others in the group.
I think everybody there got a ride in all the boats. It was a smaller group than in years past, but again there seems to always be a great bunch of folks at these classic boat outings. Very cool!

Boy Oh Boy did I get sunburnt.

OK, Lake Spencer ( what I thought), but thought that was early Sept. Mason Lake gonna happen this year?

Ya had to bring up sunburn huh? I know you'll never forget the Shelton Drags! Damn, good thing I decided to not stay over night the track as woke up morning and my eyes were stuck shut! Great day, to bad we never made it back the next day, but another day would have us both in the HOSPITAL! Still fun!

I see that was in '07. Have you stopped peeling yet, and are you able to go back in the sun yet?

I was about 12 when I got a burn like that from being in the water all day on my whole back blisters and all that is a hard lesson that is not easily forgotten. I have been religious about sunscreen ever since! There's a special kind of burn you get out on the water.

Yuppp,...I really got scorched doing security at the drag races in '07.
This last weekend wasn't 'that bad', but I sure got cooked for sure.
I was wondering if someone had that old pix on file. That was one seriously bad sunburn, but an awesome day at the race races.
You would think I would learn,....BUT what can I say,...

We got more wind/sand/tire rubber blasted, "burnt" than sun! Stiff breeze all day and standing the starting line didn't help! Sad though as that was the LAST Nostalgia dragrace EVER there. No more. Another classic gone. Short vid from then.
