TOPIC: 1980 Mercury 115hp

I'm looking at a Bluefin boat with a 1980 115hp Mercury outboard. My total outboard experience has been with Johnson outboards and I know nothing about Mercury. Is this a good engine or are there concerns I should be aware of? Should I shy away from this boat, or go full steam ahead? Thanks for any input.

others will chime in shortly im sure... im building one myself now.. used to belong to my brother.. fantastic running motor.. only problem i had with this one was old age.. lol... electrical wires dried out and cracked open.. had to rewire the complete engine..once i took it apart.. it was much easier than i thought to work on.. now im changing out the complete mid section.. for a 1985 mid section to have trim & tilt.. that year motor should be all electronic ignition.. and SO easy to work on in my opinion...
