TOPIC: merc 1150 inline six

merc 1150 inline six 10 years 3 weeks ago #101808

I am going to rebuild my 1982 merc 1150. What size are the connecting rod bolts that hold the rods on the crankshaft? They look like a star or torx socket/ Anyone?

I'll check for you in the morning (PST), if I went out to the shop this late the alarm system would get me in trouble with momma.
:)
I 'think' they call for a 12 point 1/4" socket.
The are 1/4"x28NFT stretch to torque cap-screws that can not be re-used.
I'll get the Fastenal part number for you in the AM too.

Okay,...
I use a 12 point 1/4" by 1/4" drive socket.
At Fastenal the cap screws are part number 0161312
They are referred to as: 1/4-28 x 1" FerCap at Fastenal.
HTH,
