Hello fellow boaters,
Lets face it everyone has that "when I get to it" project, so here's a cheep way to keep the bees out, because there's nothing worse then finding bees after you have already been stung

you will need 1moth balls 2pantyhose (old socks, anything breathable) 3wire for hooks 4rubber gloves (always where gloves when handling moth balls

First you cut sections of pantyhose to make small sacks for the moth balls and put about 6 or 7 in them

next make some hooks out of spare wire to hang them with

Next hang them around the boat on stearing cables, wiring, etc every few feet.I also through some up under the bow

Now you should be good for a while depending on weather conditions and environment! change them out as needed

I assume it wrks for all insects, I'm more worried about the bees you would see until you got in it and couldn't get away quick enough, rather then an ant or spider crawling on the floor.

As for little kids, maybe try vegetableis!

In your experience how long before you have to change them?

Hey dlatshaw, I have had them last all summer. I tend to over do it tho, where i live tends to be prone to bees. I put them around 2ft a part so a 16ft boat i probably put 18 or so in it. But they loose potentcy after a while from weather/mother nature. the more confined the space the longer they'll last.
Hope it helps you!

To ALL,

Moth balls also keep PIT VIPERS away, as the chemicals in the balls IRRITATE the nerve-endings in the snake's "pits".

yours, satx
