Here is the start of my restoration project. 1971 Aristocraft w/ out the motor or interior. Not going to put her back to original, going to update to her for the next 40 years. Paint will be gloss white with Sublime Green highlights. The interior (seats, dash, carpet, and so on) will be Sublime Green.

Here is the second boat I purchased with a solid 250 CI Inline 6, 165 HP. This boat also came with the interior and a decent trailer. The hull had a crack that almost ran from the bow to the stern. My son and I stripped her, and sent the hull to the scrap yard.

So here she is, without her top, trim, and accessories. I was able to move her to the new trailer. Still will need to cut the tongue and add the hinge kit. Over the course of the next several weeks, I will fix her cracks, bumps, and bruises.

This is from tonight. First coat of primer. Will need to adjust the airflow in the paint booth. Need to add a couple more filters in the front and change the ones on the fans. To dark outside to get a good picture of the sides.

Slow night, had a few areas that needed sanded and than repainted. I try to keep in mind that the boat is 41 yes old and a few imperfections are ok. Might add some color tomorrow night on the interior sides. Still unsure of the sublime green color.

Here is the Sublime Green, I was able to spray this Friday night. It turned out better than I expected.

Here is after being taped before painting on Saturday.

Woke up early on Saturday, weather was going to be in the 70's. Excited to get the first couple of coats of white on the boat. Keep in mind, I have spent many hours reading post on this forum about painting and so on and felt confident I could do this. This is my first time painting a boat or anything this large before. I have built many pieces of furniture for the wife and refinished them without a problem. So off I went to paint! I followed information from the "rustoleum boat paint" thread. Below you will see the out come, as it appears, the paint turned out great. But, yes there is a but! I forgot one critical step after wiping the boat down with mineral spirits. TACK CLOTH! Now I will spend the week wet sanding all the dust out of the top coat, than this next weekend, I will spray another two coats of white. On a side note, I will also sweep, wash, and replace the plastic under the boat. It appears to be holding dust.

Great Job Urban,
Love the Sublime Green it's the personal touch that makes your boat stand out!

I have a question about your paint booth. I'm thinking of doing this on my next project. I can't roll and tip it's just too hot in Texas! I would like to use Awlgrip. Bad stuff to spray I know. I'll spend my money on a space suit and save on a paint booth! How's it working for ya? I saw the overspray dust. Any suggestion like glad I did this or if you could change this?

Have Ya a great weekend! Randall

If I build a paint booth again, more fans. It seemed I needed more air movement.
