TOPIC: Insurance?

Insurance? 14 years 6 months ago #9392

I did a internet request last night to Hagerty to see what they would say, and they got back to me today via email saying "We don't insure high performance boats." Well, that kind of made me chuckle, I can't get this boat over 40! So I called, and they just don't insure multi-hulled boats. Apparently they consider all multi-hulled boats high performance. If they do, I would guess any company that will insure it is gonna get a bundle for doing it. I'll do a little more checking, because now I'm curious.

Any ideas?

Hagerty told me they don't insure catamarans! Lyin you=know-what!

I got comp (4 grand on the boat, 1 on the trailer, 500 deductible) & liability for 112.

feel free to show them this...........hmmmm, for some reason the jgp file won't upload. i scanned it to my pics to show you the policy on the 1960 mantaray tunnel hull. maybe they wouldn't insure yours because of the horsepower or maybe during the last 5 years they had a change in policy.

This isn't apples to apples, but insurance rates very from state to state. Check with PROGRESSIVE.
I have 1998 aluminum 17' Jetcraft with 70hp 4 stroke, 15hp 4 stroke kicker, depth/fish finder, GPS, marine radios, down rigers, electric bow mount trolling motor.
The hole shmeer is valued now, at $17,000. Insurance cost me $175.00 per year.
I'm in Reno, NV. I switched from a well known auto club that I had been with for over 30 years, because they jumped the fee to over $400.00 per year for the same boat.
I've been with PROGRESSIVE since 2004.
Good luck.
