TOPIC: Alpex (Alumacraft) Sea Aira

Alpex (Alumacraft) Sea Aira 14 years 6 months ago #9011

Good morning. I'm considering buying a 1968 (supposedly) Alpex Sea Aira with a 60 hp Merc stern drive.

I feel competent to deal with the mechanical stuff but don't know a whole lot about the hull construction. It seems pretty sound--I don't feel any soft spots in the floor, and the transom seems solid.

I haven't been able to find many details about this boat online. Can anyone point me towards any sources? Specs, dimensions, construction details....?

I also notice there is no bilge blower, Is this considered acceptable?

General opinions about this boat?

Thanks for any info.

If there is no bilge blower, standard proceedure is to open up the engine hatch for a minute or so before starting the engine.

i have a late 60s alumacraft alpex alora 14fter. mine had balsa core floor construction, but dont know about the bigger boats. i had to replace the transom and floor in mine. i emailed alumacraft and they sent me a 1968 ad scan of my boat. It is posted in the fiberglassics library. You could try emailing them and see if they have any info.
