I just got a Solas ( www.solas.com/newweb/index.asp ) 3 blade 21 pitch aluminum prop from iboats for 92 bucks, free shipping.

Always! But that's just my "frugal upbringing", I guess. You didn't do too bad, and you got a Merc prop, and it's water under the bridge now. The best prop prices I've found lately are at www.iboats.com , with free shipping. I think that's where Frank got his, I just got the same Solas Amita 3 21P three blade for $84.95. Have been running a four blade 19P I paid $118 for a few months ago. (Prop testing tomorrow, wooooo hooooo!)

Plus I'm brought my good but dinged merc 19 pitch 2 blade to a prop guy in town yesterday who tells me 20 to 30 bucks to fix it. :)

Gonna take the boat out this a.m. on nice flat water for a bit of testing.

Try Propco...thats where i get mine...and you can get just about any aluminum for 100 bucks or less give or take.

150 bucks isnt totally out of line for a quality prop though.

Yup, they're alum. at that price. The cheapest SS props on that site right now are in the $250-$275 range as I recall. Not in my budget right now, but someday..... Plus I'm still doing prop testing, looking for the sweet setup, so it just didn't make sense to go that route yet. Used OMC V4 props aren't easy to come by around here either (ATL, GA).

I use a Piranha composite prop... they're about $140. But the nice thing is if you trash a blade, or want to repitch, replacements are $20 a blade.

Downside is you do take a bit of a performance hit with composite props.
