Need help identifying this ... 14 years 6 months ago #8398

Hello,

I've acquired a little red boat that's 9 feet long. It doesn't have any manufacturer plates. One clue was that it had a mercury auto tranny control that looks to be from 57 58 59 60 or 61. Has anyone every seen one of these ? It's lines look like a seaking, just a miniature version.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

What I've found when a pic will not post and it is within the size limit. If I resample the pic a just change the size by 1 pixel it will work. Hope this helps.

I've added the pictures from a linux computer. The forum won't let an ipad add pictures :(

I can't identify the boat, but the controls are worth at least $100.00 :) I've seen worse condition controls sell for more.

Here's the catalog shot of the Playmate from the 1958 Tomahawk catalog. That was my first guess too. Interesting catalog though, I've never seen such blurred photography anywhere, let alone in a catalog from a well known builder.

The length of the little red boat is smaller at 9 foot 1 inch and the beam and transom is 46 inches.

This little red boat also has a straight form along the sides unlike the drawing of the playmate that widens at the transom.

Thanks

That design does have Tomahawk written all over it. The 1958 Play mate was 10 ft long, had a 46" beam and a 40" transom. Would they have rounded 9'-1" up to 10 ft?

In the late `50s ,the boat length would have been measured along the gunnel ,and not straight front to back.

It looks like a match to my red Tomahawk Playmate. Measured around the gunnel it is 10ft 2in. I would like to visit with you about the steering setup.
