in a few weeks i will start accepting pics for our annual Classic Boat Calendar. classic boats of glass, wood,or aluminum will be accepted. as in past years, the first 48 pics i receive will be included in the calendar. in or out of water. i would like to feature our president, Ken Sikora and his boat, on this years cover. i'm hoping my upcoming heart valve surgery won't interfere with putting this years calendar together, but if it does all money will be refunded at my expense. ron

Great idea putting Ken on the cover Ron, now you just have to talk HIM into it! LOL Best wishes on a speedy and complete recovery on the upcoming surgery my friend. ;)

Any theme for next year's pics?

Re:2014 classic boat calendar.... 11 years 2 months ago #83643

I totally Agreee without him we would not be here having all this fun. Ken needs to be honored for all his hard work he does to bring us the largest fiberglass boat website in the world.

With that said hows this for a over the transum shot. I finished restoring this boat to honor my mom and dad as they bought a boat identical to this in June of 1963. So in June 2013 my mom was given a gift 50 years to the day. At age 83 she went boating for the first time in 20 years. The boat is a 1963 Crestliner Flying Crest with a 1963 Starflite 5 75hp offshore addition with power tilt. The first picture was taken on test and tune day. First time in the water.

Re:2014 classic boat calendar.... 11 years 2 months ago #83665

Hey guys what do you think? Should I submit my photo as is with the modern use theme, that is with the modern trolling motor and the water bottle? Or, photo-shopped to make it more period correct with those items removed? Obviously it might not be selected for the calendar either way, but I'm just wondering about what you guys think is more cool. I kind of like the showing the fiberglassic boat as it used today, but understand that there is no way we would have seen a plastic water bottle in a cup holder in 1962.

Thanks in advance for any input,
Bill

Best of luck to you Ron, let us know how it all goes for you. Don't fret over the calendar, it will come together somehow by hook or by crook with help from other people here. Again, good luck.

bill,, if your pic is one of the first 48 received, it will be in the calendar. i've never played judge as to who's pic would be included, and have no reason to start now. it causes hard feelings. i feel this is the fairest way to do it. ron

Do you want more boats or have you selected all your photos? I have a high res and low res photos of a cruising along classic wood boat. Very nice photo of classic boating in motion on the water.

frank, i was suppose to have 2 overactive parathyroid glands removed 1 month ago. but i needed clearance from a cardiologist for the surgery. well the cardiologist gave me an echocardiogram and discovered the bad aortic valve and wouldn't clear me for surgery until the valve is replaced. i met with the surgeons a week ago monday for the pre-surgery consultation where they review everything and tell you there is a slight chance you won't make it. well thats all i had to hear!!!! now i'm waiting for the phone call to tell me when to come in. they have done 100 of these valve replacements where they go through your groin and don't split your chest open with no fatalaties. that put me at ease somewhat.lol

Good luck from seabuddy, too. I have had my health issues, too. I hope they are now behind me. I think a red G-3 boat ride helped me a lot.

I notified the boat and photo owner to get his written permission to use this photo. I really think it is a nice running shot and of a high enough res to stand up to a calendar printing.

Again, good luck.

Re:2014 classic boat calendar.... 11 years 2 months ago #84014

Gee, guys, I'm honored, sob sob, I don't know if I can make it through my acceptance speech without crying, sob sob....

Let me see I can either loose weight or pop out photoshop to get a good profile....

Now, which boat to use? The Whitehouse, the Disco Glastron, The 80's Kona I named "Cry Baby" because it brings tears to your eyes when you are going 50mph in the wind? Or one of the two Crestliners... maybe the Viking.

Don't know. Will post a few pics and let you all decide...

The original photo of the 1961 Skee-Craft powered by a 75 HP Evinrude is 3216 by 2136 and/or 3.5 MB. That can be re-sized, cropped, or dummied down by the printer.

Here is the photo I have been trying to post here. Finally got it to go. This picture shows a very happy seabuddy piloting our one-family 1960 Glasspar G-3 at our Falls Lake, N.C. Event back in July.
