I stripped the sparkplug threads in the head of my '63 Merc Merc 500. What are my optins to repair it?

Helicoil, timesert, etc. I had stripped spark plug threads on the No. 1 cylinder of my 65 Merc 500 (due to the previous owner). Cheap helicoil kit didn't work. I picked up this Perma-Plug repair kit and it worked great. Four years later and no issues.

I have also heard that is a good repair but if you run across a good used head I would still pick it up. I'm not sure on the thickness of the head on that.

There is no cylinder head on that Mercury motor .---Helicoils work just great.----Just use grease on the tap to keep chips going into the cylider to a minimum.
