TOPIC: wilker galaxy

howdy to all, its been quite a while since ive posted on this forum, but i've been searching for another boat again, the little aerocraft is just far to small for the larger bodies of water here in ontario..

anyways so needless to say i've been searching for something with a deep-v hull.. which has me leaning towards purchasing a used (mid to late 70's) wilker galaxy, now I dont have a particular boat lined up ready to be purchased, im just interested in the hull manufacturer and their design.

so just wondering if anybody on-line here has had any experience with this hull, and how it handled rough water etc... im also very curious as to wether wood was used in the hull stringers or wether they were of a fiberglass construction?? anyways any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

on a side note here, desired wilker is the 17 foot galaxy model with 140 hp mercury I/O

I don't know anything about the Wilker in particular but there sure are a bunch of them for sale on KIJIJI right now. The Galaxy 17' and up looks like it would be an excellent boat for midsize lakes with a nice deep V and a high gunwale. One thing I did notice is there isn't much price difference between mid 70's and mid 80's boats currently listed and they look about the same. This one seems to be a fair deal and it's a 1986

for the price and condition the 86 to me looks like a better deal

hey thanks for the input!!, any is greatly appreciated. and yes i did notice the lack of the price diffrence... leads me to believe they hold some sort of value?? Well, all i can do now is make some calls and look around
