TOPIC: Outboard BBQ

Outboard BBQ 11 years 8 months ago #77736

Has anyone seen a outboard motor made into a BBQ ? I remember several years ago seeing a 50's Johnson outboard made into a BBQ and thought this was a good way to have a parts motor hanging around the house and put to good use. I have a motor that I would like to make one from, any help would be appreciated.

Here's one I ran across. Doesn't seem to be much to it...lose the engine and add two grills for the charcoal and the food. I would guess that there is already an electrical plug hole near the bottom of the casing that would serve as an air inlet. All you need to add is an outboard motor stand.

I have an old 55 Evinrude that I am making into a smoker/grill. Should be done with it in a few weeks. my will be LP with wood chips to add the smoke for smoking, or briquettes for grilling

I have not found a motor big enough to make into a BBQ. To BBQ the way it should be one would need 16 hrs of wood

I've heard a few stories about doing them but I know one thing. Trying to fish downwind of a anchored houseboat in the process of cooking on one makes it hard to fish. One fellow told me about making a smoker and using wood pellets for a wood heater in it.
