thunder42,

WELCOME ABOARD

I don't know enough about "dixie boats" to haven an educated opinion as:
1. I don't know how many were made,
2. IF they were VERY limited production
(Some SIMMONS SKIFFS made in 2004 by Nelson Silvia, before his untimely death, are ACCEPTED by the SIMMONS SKIFF OWNERS ASSN. & some of the REPLICA BEARCAT Powerboats, made to the 1928 design are considered CLASSICS though they were made in the 1980-90 era. = Prices are over 75,000.oo USD.)
or
3. In other words I don't know enough facts to KNOW the answer.
(Nonetheless, I believe that Fiberglassics are generally built before 1970, ImVho.)

yours, satx

Some folks do have a narrower set of parameters as to what qualifies as a true "Glassic", and that's okay. (Labels are just other people's opinions IMHO, everyone is entitled to their own right!?) Good looking runabout, please do share some more pics and reports on your Dixie. (The 70's section is one of my favorite hangouts, even though I've NEVER been a fan of DISCO anything! LOL ) :)

Hi,
I had the pleasure of running a 1980 model of your Dixie, it was very nice, with very good performance.
Others can debate the classification, but Dixie boats was a very long lived brand. If you might notice our ad, my father's Dixie "Flash" model is shown in the background (the picture is from 1954).

Regards,
Joe

Mark, the reason for my above statement of "I don't know about "fiberglassic" comes from the original premise of this site calling 50s-early 60s fined/syled boats "fiberglassics". Before this site, they were all just old boats to me lol. Heck,70s and some 80s boats will prolly be the newer glassics someday if not already IMHO.
