TOPIC: Trying to identify my "new" boat

Trying to identify my "new" boat 14 years 6 months ago #7715

Hello to everyone, I'm new here so I'd like to start by introducing myself. My name is Duncan, I'm from Hull, UK and I have very recently become the proud owner of a 20' GRP vessel of which I know very little about.

My profile picture is of the boat, I appreciate that its not a very good picture and I will get some more up shortly. Here's what I do know: LOA 20' 6" LWL 19' 6" Beam 6' 6" all GRP construction with pine cabin interior, rigged for outboard. I'm guessing that she was built c.1960s-1980s but have nothing to confirm this, nor can I find any maker's mark/plaque or anything else that might help identify her.

She is very much a restoration project, I plan to sort out the hull & superstructure repairs over the summer and fit out the interior over Winter 2010, ready for some inshore fishing next season.

If anyone knows what kind of boat I have, or could point me in the right direction I'd be very grateful.

Cheers,

Duncan

Welcome Duncan,

Although I do not know exactly what you have, I've seen boats like these from time to time.

It almost looks like a water taxi of sorts. Very neat looking.

Hi Kelly, thanks for replying. She's a big project, but an opportunity to learn new skills and brush up on old ones!

Obviously its not critical that I determine her identity for the purposes of restoration, but it would still be useful, not to mention interesting. I purchased her from a chap who had done the same about five years previously with the intention of restoring her, I understand that prior to that she had been neglected on a mooring for 10-15 yrs.

I am reckoning on a 65-70HP long-shaft outboard, but am also considering the practicalities on converting to diesel inboard. Something for another post I think :)

Having had no success in uploading them to the forum, I have made some more pictures available for public viewing on my Flickr photostream.

No problem, thanks for replying. I will be posting regular updates to a blog, when I get that organised

Do you have any suggestions on how I might identify her origin?

Cheers,

Duncan
