The stringers in my Glastron are fiberglass inverted boxes. The floor sits directly on top of them. I haven't opened up the whole floor yet, but I have 2 stringers (8" wide) going longitudinally and some in the middle going across between them. This creates pockets, both between the stringers ans well as under the stringers. At the transom, there is a "sump" where water on the deck can drain into and the drain hole is located at the bottom. There are a couple of holes on either side where water that is in the stringers can also drain into the sump. However, there are pockets that are sealed and cannot be drained. My question is should I cut drain holes so all pockets can drain? The up side is that there is no place where water can be trapped, but the down side is that you are allowing a way for water to get in in the first place. I thought maybe the pockets were sealed to provide some kind of flotation, but I think that unlikely. Any thoughts?

An idea for what it's worth. Drill maybe 1" holes in the dividing parts in the center of each as close to the bottom as possible, run some pvc tube or elec conduit through the holes, seal the edges with 5200 or whatever so you will have drain holes in each of the sections that lead to the transom area where your plug would be. My crude paint drawing.

I was thinking along those lines and have a 8' section of 3/4" CPVC pipe that would be perfect

Unless there is water that you can see or hear sloshing around under the floor - it probably was built to drain into the floor sump at the center foot of the transom. I can see a nice 5/8" to 7/8" hole in the wall of the sump - I'll be thtere is a hole on the opposite wall as well? These are where the bulge area drains to - via this hole to the sump -

I don't hear sloshing, but this boat hasn't been in the water for a couple of decades (except when we switched trailers when I bought it). I'm really not going to know until I take out the rest of the floor what is up. One section of the floor in the middle had been removed (by a previous owner and a piece of plywood was screwed over it) and it looks like there may have been an opening cut with a saw in a couple of the longitudinal pieces. I was asking this more as an academic question in planning for the future. There is another hole on the opposite side, but it only drains under the stringer, not the outboard section.
