The one that I have been wanting. The first time I saw one of these finned glassics was three years ago. The chances of finding one were already very low or none at all. There are just not many around.

I finally have a rare finned glassic. I’m talking about the Reinell Jetflite, Jetflight, or Jet Flight, not certain how this model is spelled.

Here’s the original post.

www.fiberglassics.com/glassic-forums/32-sightings/61299-reinell-with-wings-in-spokane-wa.html#62265

Six weeks later, and returning from a week-long road trip, the Jet Flight is now sitting behind the gate on my driveway. I also picked up a Tee Nee, model OB-50A, from Neil. We broke it down, placed the main frame inside the Jet Flight and the rest of the parts in back of my truck bed.

I know it looks like nothing. It will need extensive fiberglass work recreating the center deck. The Jet Flight is missing everything and needs everything. I didn’t care. I’m stoked that I have this finned glassic in my hands. I’ll take my time with her; I’m in no rush to have her done.

I’ll end with this. I can’t say enough about Neil. He has been true to his word and one of the nicest people I have ever met regarding this crazy glassic hobby. Neil even took the time to register the boat in Idaho to make it easier on me when I register her in California. This is a shout out to Neil for his generosity, his genuine good self, and that there are people still out there that once they give their word, they honor it. Neil, you rock and thank you for all that you have done. It was a pleasure meeting you in person.

Nice deal Eduardo ! Looks like a sweet boat. Going to have to find an old Impala to tow it with. I'll keep my eyes open up North for Reinell parts - Never Know ??

Eduardo, judging from what I've seen of your other projects, with your talent and attention to detail, I'd say it's a very lucky boat. Can't wait to see her rejuvenated.jim

Wow, Neil's shop is amazing - not only how much room there is - but look how clean it is! My only complaint are those ugly Mercury engines sitting around the place. :) Ed, maybe with you and Neil teaming up on my junk pile - it could get organized? What do you think? Neil could even haul away all of those ugly Mercs I have sitting around here...

Rick and John, a '59 Chevy El Camino would be nice too. How about the wagon version. Yeah that would be very cool.

Thanks Jim. I'll do my best on this one. This won't be easy; I may have to consult with the fiberlgass specialists.

Yeah, it's like starting with a blank canvas. After picking up the Jet Flight from Neil in Idaho, we stayed with our friends in Oregon. Next door, 20 acre parcels, my friend told me there was an old boat on their next door neighbor's property and that she wanted it off her property. It ended up being a Reinell, early to mid 60s I assume. What luck. I got the package for cheap and trailered the Reinell, trailer and motor from her property to my friends. I removed the port side Reinell emblems; the other side was missing. It did have the smaller dashboard Reinell emblem, so I was fortunate there and removed it. I'll visit soon and remove what would be valuable items.

Anyway Rick, please be on a lookout for decent Reinell emblems. I need one more.

Bruce you want to see organized....check out Neil's Mercury room. What a treat for any vintage outboard finatic, especially fans of Mercury Outboards. It's pretty impressive. Thanks Neil for the tour.

Ahh you need to get rid of the Ford truck. I'll take it. Nice boat and it will turn heads.

I'll keep my eyes open . I live in Bellingham and work in Marysville. I'll ask some of the old timers that may have a connection with the old plant.I do know where there is one you may have to do some talking to get :)

Rick,

I've been trying to locate any printed or verbal information on Reinell during the late 1950s to the early 1960s. The Reinell brochures on Fiberglassics are the only ones I've ever seen . Nobody I know of has seen a brochure or promo picture of the Jet flight. I've put wanted ads for Reinell stuff on Craigslist in the Northwest. No responses. If you are poking around - maybe you can scare up some old info.

Thanks,

Bruce

Thanks for all of the compliments guys.
I had a wonderful visit with Eduardo and Mercedes. The Jetflight could not have went to a better home. Wonderful people. They gave me a sticker that says Old Boats Rule. Perfect.
Now Bruce, about all of those ugly Mercs!! You are really not that far away. Some day I may just knock on your door and help you sort through all of your BEAUTIFUL old Kiekheafer iron!! ;)
(I hope I don't trip over an old JohnnyRude and break a hip!) LOL

Thanks Neil for that. Mercedes and I really enjoyed the drive through your home state of Idaho. So nice. Beautiful country where you live Neil. We'll definitely make our way back to Idaho again.

Here's short story behind the picture of the Reinell Rick posted. That Reinell Jetabout belongs to my cousin Gemmel. Though I helped Gemmel get it by working with Rick, the boat does belong to him. It originally came from Washington and is currently still in Washington. Rick, who is always looking out for fellow glassheads, volunteered to pickup the Reinell and hold it at his place. Another Northwest Classic Boat Club member picked up the Reinell from Rick's place and when he is ready to head south through Sacramento, CA, he'll bring the Reinell Jetabout with him. Love how everyone works together to help their fellow member in this hobby of ours.

Rick, I know you know what the Reinell emblems look like. Here's a picture of the only one I have that came from the Reinell I picked up next door to our friends place in Oregon. Need one more. Thanks Rick for keeping an eye out for one.
