There is a very powerful photo program called Gimp that I use all the time to re-size pics. It's cheap (i.e. free) and is easy to learn how to do one thing - re-size pics. Once you get the steps down, it goes very quick. That's how I scale down all my pics, then reduce the disc space size.

I have a question for the boat gurus I this boat has no motor it is rated for 100HP my choices are a 115 Evinrude or an 80 HP Mariner the evinrude is off and ready to go do you think it will break the boat?

Forget about ever putting an engine on that is larger than what the plate says.
1 Insurance won't happen, but if it did see #2.
2 If something did ever happen you will be sued regardless of who was at fault, and insurance co. would not pay.

It may be safe, but I still would never do it.

Put the cursor on the pic and right click the mouse. Look for "edit" in the menu.

May not be safe but we do it to nearly EVERY boat on this 5000+ member website:

forums.screamandfly.com/modules/Jig/index.php

This pic shows a 15 Ft. Checkmate with a 225 V6 on the back, but it's not really a 225....it's a 260 drag motor.(I'll have to admit, this one's a little extreme...)

Yes, we are all nuts. My lil Powercat only has a 135 but it doesn't have a HIN plate....

If the transom is solid, it will not break the boat. The OMC (Johnson and Evinrude) motors had the same powerhead (and virtually the same weight) on all it's V4 motors from 85 hp up to 140 hp.

Good looking boat and the price was great! It should clean up nicely. Congrats!

Some people are like slinkies... Not much good for anything, but they sure are fun to push down the stairs.

I'm an insurance agent and here's my opinion:

If the insurance company is willing to insure it with the engine you indicated, and there's no misrepresentation on your part, they WILL pay the claim. You will NOT be sued for being overpowered if the accident is not your fault.

However, if the accident is your fault or being overpowered played a roll in causing the accident, you could be guilty of gross negligence and you may not have enough insurance.

I don't feel that a 115 on a boat this size causes any danger as long as you drive it responsibly.

I did see a 300 hp Mercury on the back of of Glaspar G6 for sale on ebay once. Now that is GROSS Negligence!
