I posted this question on Peter's OMC board too.

Here is a question to check if anyone here is observant;

We know that early Johnson boats were different from early Evinrude boats. Later models shared designs. This isn't the trivia question, just stating a fact. It isn't the answer I'm looking for. (Nor is color or brand name the answer.)

What is the difference other than those listed above that will set an Evinrude apart from a Johnson I/O. Hint: It also seperates some but not all J/E outboards.

Well one thing that came to mind is the control style - Evinrude used the push button control for the electric shift lower and Johnson used a UniLever style control

Some people are like slinkies... Not much good for anything, but they sure are fun to push down the stairs.

Peter is correct.

Sorry Doug, you had better stick to your Chryslers.

Hey Jim - do the differences in the trailers count?
Yesterday - as I prepared for todays run to Kansas and get the marooned Sweet 16 - I discovered that the '64 Johnson has a different axle shaft setup from the '64 Evinrude - yet the two share the same torsion axle.

Interesting.
