TOPIC: In need of a Burgee pole can anyone help?

In need of a Burgee pole can anyone help? 12 years 8 months ago #57832

I have this bow light that is missing the burgee pole and I am going to probably have to make one but I thought that I would throw it out there and see if anyone has one or knows where I can find one.

Here or eBay are the best palces to find that. I believe that is a Volrath bow light, which may be a difficult find. Pretty rare animal. Good luck!

If you have a lathe or a friend with one it would be an easy make. Pick up a large diameter hardwood dowel at the local guy shop and turn out a custom one for yourself. If you can find a picture of an original that would even be better.

I can't quite tell with the laptop I'm on but are those threaded mounting holes on each side behind the center hole? If so that actually may be a metal pole with wings that mount to the top with knurled barrel style thumb screws. Not real familiar with that bow light.

Yes, there are three bolts that hold it together two behind the hole for the pole and one at the very front of it.

If I remember correctly John Gibson had a light very similar, if not exact to this one, but I don't remember if it had a pole on it.

My plan was to make one out of wood if I couldn't find one .... I am sure that for the right price the lumber yard would turn one for me.

I will have to get a Classic Boating Magazine and look for something that might work.

I believe the hole in the Vollrath is around 5/8" diameter. You can go to Perko Marine & order one of their chrome and aluminum ons for about 50 to 75 bucks. The base on thise is about 3/4" dia. The base of the mast can be can be unscrewed and chucked up in a lathe. Turn it down 'till it fits. Then cut a new groove in the base fitting to hold a new O ring since the friction of the O ring is what holds this type pole into the socket.

SeaChoice makes a wooden flagpole that is currently available. It's 18" tall and is finished in brown. Made in Taiwan. #77021 Flag Staff 18" long and 3/4" OD end. Two brass cup hooks included. Cheesy, but works. Available at www.seachoice.com . I bought one at MarineMax in Lewisville, TX for about $10.
