TOPIC: Trying to identify this fiberglass runabout

Trying to identify this fiberglass runabout 13 years 1 month ago #57296

There isn't much to go on here but we're trying to figure out who might have designed and/or built our first family boat. We bought it in either the Chicago area or southern Wisconsin in the mid-60s and it was already pretty well-used, so it's probably from the late 50s/early 60s. We used it for about 10 years on Whitewater Lake in southern Wisconsin.

If anyone has any ideas based on these two old, black and white photos, please pass it on.

Thanks,

Scott

One of the photos didn't upload so I'm trying again.

Also forgot to mention that the boat was probably 12 feet.

I was wondering if Illinois would still have those records around. Might be worth a try. Otherwise it's just going to be a matter of someone happening to recognize some distinguishing feature in a photo. We've been looking through a lot of the libraries too.

Thanks

Great photos! I would say a '56 to '57 Glass Magic Playmaster with a small '50s Mercury outboard.

Thanks. The Glass Magic models do seem to have that raised center deck feature, so that might be getting close. Good call.

The outboard is a 1947 Mercury KE-7 "Lightning." We still have it.
