Not a bad Winter but still I am cold and eagerly await the Mt Dora/ Tavares boat show.
When not docked at show and hungry/thirsty I recommend the giant cheeseburger at Buzzard Beach- next to public ramp near Dora Canal.
Than off to the Palms via Dead River relax and watch water patrol watch you. Than continue into Lake Harris and off to the Hide Away. A great Florida bar with a wonderful view.
I hate being a frozen land lubber !!!

Hope you all that attend Mt. Dora show will visit our Florida Glasspar Clubs' display at the show. We plan to display some 12-15 Glasspar boats, including G-3s, Seafair Sedans, Phaetins, Sunliner and Lidos. Visit with us and see our 50+ year old boats and motors.
Pic here is my G-3 and a pic of display last years.

DAVE.: I believe (?) the bottom sand pic is at the Lake Roy hotel / motel in Winter Haven Fla, right at the old CYPRESS GARDENS ski show location.. My sister lives in that town , now the new LEGOLAND ,with a small ski show , on the chain of lakes... I believe the AOMCI have a early Nov meet there on Lake SHIPP.?

Hey fella's you are all invited to come and visit with us at the far western end of the show. The Florida Glasspar Club will have a large shade awning and chairs for you to sit dowm for a break while attending the show. There are hundeds of boats to see at the show and lots of walking to do so you will want to find some shade and take a break. Look for the Florida Glasspar Club display and come and say hi. We are a part of the fiberglassics community and proud owners of fiberglassics boats. Here are some pictures from our display area at last years show.

Yes we do have club cruises where we camp and in fact a few members of the Florida Glasspar Club are planning on an extended voyage around the southern tip of Florida later this fall. This club event is for those members owning Glasspar cabin boats like the Seafair Sedan, Club mariner and Del Mar models and we expect to be camping on some remote beaches along the 10,000 islands of the everglades as well as camping and cruising the waters of the Florida Keys.

A word of warning to anyone planning on attending this event AND displaying a boat. Two years ago, I had a G-3 on display at this event and had a plastic bag stolen out of our boat containing two wrenches and both plugs for the boat!

The plastic bag was not exactly in "plain sight" either. I had it in behind the controls under the gunwale to the right of the seat.

Keep a close eye on your boats and it's contents.

Good "heads up" / reminder! You'd hate to think a fellow boat enthusiast would do ya like that, but I guess it's quite possible it's a reality. Who else would need that stuff, not like you could get a lot of money for them at a pawn shop, right?

Tavares beer tent. First year some of the City Fathers were running beer tent. My thoughts was why can,t it encompass park? They listened. Than a year later I was visiting City hall and with a smile was told about the entertainment district. So now if your brew is in a plastic cup you can visit all areas of downtown.
**** Will anyone have a small 18 foot or less Cudy Cabin I can visit/ sit in? Later Dave

Looking forward to seeing everyone that is comming this weekend. The Sunnyland Antique Boat Festival held on Lake Dora in Tavares Florida starts this comming Friday the 23 of March. Set up day for the show is Thursday the 22nd and many of us will be there putting up displays and entering our boats in the show. Brian

I'm going to start saving "road trip" money now, maybe I can make it next year! Sure would love to come experience this event.

I have a hunch safety will be a big factor on the water this year, everybody PLEASE be careful down there. Also, if you're driving through Georgia to get down there be very conscious of all traffic laws. The GA State Patrol is enforcing a zero tolerance "crack down" on I-75 due to spring break traffic for the next couple weeks! Want everyone to be safe, have a great time!

Great pic of me and my "gift shirt" I received that day from Glen Steinberg from Chicago!!! He got me with this one, but it is a true statement!!!!!!! Wore it all day and got many reviews of it!!!!

The name is Jim Savage, driver of "The Savage II" 1960 Glasspar G-3 with the 1969 Merc 1000 (behind me in this pic)!!
