I'd love to see this in action.

well as far as the jet "conversion" on the prop, doesn't change the sound of the engine, maybe the motor it self is what peter was referring to.

a modern day jet conversion can be found for our era's motors on ebay and I think there is a company making them also, I can do a simple search and see what I can dig up if any one is interested.

I think Dave from my neck of the woods here in Utah has one of those old jet outboards. I have never asked him about it, but they look cool. I wonder what the loss ratio on that old thing would be. I bet 1/2 of it's horsepower is lost due to it being a jet.

Jets are generally about 40% less power to the water compared to a conventional propeller design. The other issue is low speed handling. Props are best all around generally. I do however love jets, and millions of jet skis can't be wrong.....

You have a good memory Mike. I do have a small Jet outboard from the 50's. It is not the same as the one above in the picture but it is the same idea.

DAVE !!!!!!!!!
Good to see ya! How are things going? We need to get together and float a boat. I still have the homelite 55 on the stand and I should have it running shortly. I think it should sit on the back of the skagit unless I get a jet drive first...LOL.....
