That is what I was thinking also.
It is close and I should save the old gal but too close to the Holidays.
But If someone else here wants it, I am making a trip there in the next couple of weeks to deliver a boat.
Let me know. I can store it indoors for you if you strike a deal.
More than happy to do so.

Ugh.... I have to go wash my eyes out with soap. Of it were closer I'd be tempted, that looks like a nice package... Missing windshield, but most are.

Probably could make it nice again with a little 5200.

Isn't that a rare G3 F/S (fish & ski)? Windshield delete to allow access to the forward casting deck. If real it would also have 2 swivel seats. :P :woohoo:

I need a small fishing boat, no luck finding a cat yet. I'ld be happy to chase snook in that, and only $400 obo  the motor is worth that. But it's over 3000 miles away

I'm sure it would be easy to put back, I know people that paid more for less.

Never surprises me what I see done to old boats to allow folks to catch fish. Saw a Feathercraft Rocket with the decks cut out and a 3/4-inch plywood casting platform put in its place. Looked like they cut it out with an antique can opener - they left it jagged!! Awful what they'll do...

There's a YouTube video on the "restoration" of a GT-150 out there where the guy "converted" (read butchered) it by putting a casting deck in the bow, made me cry...... :S

I love fishing as much as almost anybody, but PLEASE PEOPLE, sell the classic and buy a fishing boat would ya!

If the hull is solid, it's not all that bad. It may not be a candidate for restoration, but probably could be pimped up as a pretty cool boat anyway.

Oh Boy I could mount my 8 hp Honda on that and pull catfish in all day and night. I can't say I'd do it to that boat but I am considering it with my Winner. Someone in the past sanded the gelcoat off and it is full of gouges. No little ones mind you. It is solid otherwise. My 58 MFG was already converted to a fishing boat hull before I got it. In fact I didn't care what it was before until I started researching MFG boats. That is when I found this place here. I could put it back but I'd want to see one original to go by. But I need to fish so It will do it's duty as a fishing hull until then. I does it well and the 8 hp pushes it through the water very well. money has always been a problem and more so now. I'm very limited with funds.

I WILL SAY IT ONE MORE TIME!!!!

YOU DON'T FISH OUT OF A GLASSPAR G-3!! I have owned 3 and they were the "corvette" of the glass boats from 1958 to 1968!!!

Here is a pic of the one I have now, (a 1960 with a 1969 Merc 1000,) and this is how a Glasspar G-3 should look!!!!!

It takes a REAL DUMMY to cut a G-3 up to make a fishing boat!!!

Oh, by the way, I do fish, having even won some fishing tournaments, but I use a fishing boat!!!!!!!!

Oh we see boats cut up here all the time. Maybe you need to buy it. I seen a guy cut up the deck off a Higgins once. He was going to rebuild it. A few years later he heated his garage with it and junked the running gear. The hull was in nice shape needing just some wood replaced. It was over 20 ft. I asked him why he didn't sell it to me because I tried to buy it before. His reply, I needed some firewood.

Neil, I think I saw the Craigslist posting about the same time you did. I offered the seller $250 without seeing the boat, it was about 40 miles from me. Picked it up on Saturday. It needs transom, floor, gelcoat, etc. The fishing seat on the front bow messed it up good. Then it had carpet glued all over the top, the seats, and the interior.

But the motor looks good, last run 10 years ago. The trailer will go under a different boat of mine. So this poor G3 will get "parted out" ... it is not worth restoring and the parts will help someone else restore theirs. Some of the parts could be used on my other G3.

The interesting part is that they are still "out there" and most prior owners do not see any value in them ... they are just old boats.

Neil, thanks again on the heads-up on this one. Larry in Boise, Idaho.

I agree, Bob! We can't save 'em all, and at least she'll contribute to some other boat's restoration. Good going Larry / Neil. ;)

If I was into G-3s as much as I'm into cats I'ld be crazy enough to fix it...as a "what if". In MN in the early '70s I saw many '60s runabouts modified for fishing. Some good some bad work. The bassboats we know today were just getting started. I read on the Allison site they clain the first high perfornance fishing boat and pedistal fishing seat in 1962, an open 13' glass tri-hull/modified V with bench seats. In 69' they changed to a V hull with a pad. Minn-Kota made the first electric trolling motor in the early 30s with a model T starter motor.

Neil (and others), I have not looked at the 45hp Mercury motor yet. I suspect it might be newer than my other four 40hp Mercs (which I believe range from 1956 to 1961). This one is also a "long" shaft, which does not fit any of my boats very well. Maybe this one is "trading" stock :) . Larry in Boise
