todd from Pa.,came over today to drop off todd from Ct.'s hood cowling and steering wheel for restore,and also brought jim barts firetruck to be restored for charity.
he also brought tom,a very nice young fellow,todd and tom were a great part of my day,both are very nice folks,we talked alot about boats among other stuff,it was a fantastic day,thanks todd and tom,john

OK, let's tell the truth. The real pleasure was all ours, John. The graciousness and generosity we encountered is a rarity in today's society.
Ladies and Gentlemen - we have a real gem in our midst. John and his wonderful wife prepared a delicious lunch for Tom and I and opened their home to us. They are wonderful people, though we were only able to meet JOhn on this trip. As JOhn said, we spent a good amount of time talking about this and that, especially old fiberglass boats. Many people may not know that John is a very talented woodworker and artist in his own right. I witnessed a carved wooden gun cabinet that could grace the home of any of us and be a centerpiece of conversation on any given day. The quality of the carving is amazing. John sent Tom home with an engraved mirror that he did freehand and looks phenomenal. To be honest, my description just doesn't do John's work justice. You've got to see it for yourself. Thank you, John. You are a Man above men and someone I consider as a friend. Here's to many wonderful years of friendship. |

Todd, you are spot on about John. I met him this summer for the first time at Hammondsport and couldn't agree more.
John, is there a website for your artwork? I seem to remember seeing some of it online at some point. I looked recently because I wanted to send a pic of the gun case to one of my clients who is an avid hunter (and just started a hunting show on TV). If the site is out there, post the link. I'm sure there are a lot of us who would enjoy seeing it. |

tudor yeah my website is.. hand-engraved-original-mirrors.webs.com/ ,i just spent 20 minutes cleaning up the spam in the forums,i havent been on in awhile,lol. on it there is also a link to "zazzle",it has some of my early work on products like t shirts ,coffee mugs ,and even my now defunct "gibson boat restoration" shirts,lol,etc. i must not be too good ,lol,i havent sold much,lol. todd and were talking and we both agreed that the folks here are the best of any group out there,just look how far they will go to help another classic boater,all of you i think are great,john |

as for what i cant do ,is alot,im not much of a mechanic,etc. and since my heart attacks left me with a damaged heart,and i also have bad joints ,theres a whole lot i cant do,lol. all i can do now is the small stuff,now i plan on doing a boat of mine,but it will take forever,lol. thank you for the compliments guys,john |

I hear you on the health limitations, two open heart surgeries and two mechanical heart valves tends to slow me down a bit. But we are still ticking and that is what counts. I wish I had your talents sir.

Well catching up from being gone last two days.
Todd, glad you and Tom went to see John. You are so right, couldn't have said it better myself. John and his lovely wife are great folks and VERY hospitable! I thoroughly enjoyed my visit when I was there, only wish I had more time. John, I think you ned to put in a revolving door buddy!  Yes he is a true artist in every sense of the word, in anything he does! John, Glad to see you found a home for the 75hp. Kind of ironic, that I didn't take it with me since I ended up with one anyway, well and it's bigger sister too, in the JEGO thread, what I got for $100. Hadn't planned on that but since the machine shop screwed up the hotrodded heads I was going to use, those Rudes came up and couldn't pass them up. Bob |

Morning Everyone,
I'm still alive and, thankfully, have no broken bones from my romantic purchase for my wife. She is a great sport and laughed when I showed it to her. The whole way home I told her I had a surprise and left her wondering. When she saw it, she did say that the blue was nice but her favorite color is green. It will come out of the back of the truck today with the help of the cherry picker. Sorry I didn't write back sooner. I just started a couple more classes on top of what I already have going. I will be very glad when this degree is finished. The same goes for you and your wife, John. All you have to do is drop in and the door will remain always open. |

I got to get my phone number to you John. We have an actual phone now. First time in six years. I hate it but I can force myself to use it. I don't know the number. I'll have to ask my wife what it is. After i closed the business I wanted nothing to do with them. I was on call 24-7-365 days a year for over 20 years. The internet is funny, I've met some great people here and there. I talked to a guy for three years before I discovered he was David Allen Coe's nephew and now yesterday I talked to Dakota Fred from Discovery's Gold Rush show. But man I hate phones.

well,this is the kind of guy todd is,while he was here ,my moms fiance ,ed gordon sold his 63 starflite 75 hp to todd for 50 bucks.
todd ran into town to get the money and when he got back he handed it to me and i didnt even count it and put it in my pocket,then after todd left i still didnt count it,i put it in a cookie jar to wait for ed to come get it. well about an hour ago ed was here and i handed ed the money that was folded up,and to our suprise there was 100 bucks there,todd did it on purpose,this is just one reason i say that the folks here are the best. not because of the money,but that he did it in the 1st place.john |

the giving of you all never stops,i have alot to pay forward..
todd is giving me 2 sewing machines for doing vinyl,which i can really use ,especially once i have the knee surgery. my knees just cant do the treadle sewing machine that was my grams. thank you todd ,i really appreciate it. and i got an email from bham-rick,hes sending somethng for the firetruck project,thank you rick.you folks here never stop amazing me,if you ever need anything restored or customized ,let me know,i have to pay it forward,john |
