Finally finished my 1960 Glastron Fireflite. I had to do a ton of glass work. I made new seat benches glassed in and integrated front seat back support/cup holders. Too much sanding to want to remember. Tried it out last weekend and it was great. Got most of the bugs out. My wife loves it too! Painted the hull with single stage industrial urethane. Comes out shiny..

This boat unlike some i have seen had a gold tiny square textured decal in that area. It was in bad shape so i replaced with vinyl decal. The pattern is called small engine turn gold. Looks like its aluminum with machined swirls from a wire brush. Its the original paint color, or very very close. I think i joined this site in 2006 i think and bought this boat shortly after. Finally had time last summer and this to restore it.

You built what I have been thinking about. Perfect. More pics of inside please. I do have a covered and warm dock space for it if you so decide to sell. Dave

Did you do those seats yourself or farm them out? Love 'em. Somethings about the lines of our old boats just set them up on a higher plane than the cracker boxes that are punched out now.
Great job, would like to see more close up pictures. Where did you get the industrial single stage paint? I haven't decided what color or what I want to do with my Herters yet so I'm looking for suggestions.

I agree, Dave! Inside, outside, PLEASE show us more Tey. I'd love to see some pics of the process if you'd like to share them too. The pic you posted looks like a calendar shot contender to me, man that thing turned out awesome!

Would you mind mentioning what region you're from? I'd like to see the boat someday. If Jag says it looks good. Take it to the bank. We made a down payment on a Fireflite but the seller renegged and kept our money. There was one in outdoor storage in Quincy Illinois if someone going to that Show in a few weeks (the 17th) would like to see if Todd and Robb would sell the rough project boat. There's some contact info for them at the old Show website: www.djparty.com/QuincyClassicBoatShow2.html

(some of this contact info may be dated)

Check the size of your pics, too big and they won't load.
Thanks, looking forward to the interior pics and the topside finish.

This is the underseat storage and rear of boat. Then a pic of my custom cup holders that reinforce the hull in the middle. This model deleted them when the hul lchanged for '60. It allowed for cracks in the front of the passenger compartment. I still need white/chrome step pads and trim arounf that inside edge to finish up the hull.

Thanks for the kind words. I really owe my intrest to all of you guys. This hull is not as interesting as some car aqua or other brands though. I took it out today and am getting more comfortable with the vintage boating idea. I am apprehensive about vintage power, but am learning a lot. Rebuilt the fuel pump and learned more! I did not grow up around boats and only have 4-6 hours on my own boats. ;) Started with a really nice '63 Renken parts boat. The power, interior, bow light , controls and windshield are from it. I learned fiberglassing in college so i had experience with it. I think anyone can do a repair/resto now with this site and all its info and minds willing to help.

Yes, its good stuff.. you can buy real gold too but it is quite expensive.
I think the ebay add tells the life of it. 5 years outdoors maybe?
