TOPIC: Calling all Day-Cruisers!

Re:Calling all Day-Cruisers! 13 years 4 months ago #40912

I would love to see someone photoshop that daycruiser Thunderhawk. That would be cool. Here's my '60 Redfish Oceanic.

I have lot's more including my own day cruiser that is the only one of it's kind known. A 56 Mobilcraft that looks much like the Dorsett. But, I'm havin' some trouble uploading the pics without a better idea of what the upload process is. I'll add more when I get time to resize them to FG limits. Nice Jeep.

Ok then, Here's my 1960 Glass Magic Ranger powered by a 1961 Evinrude Starflite 75hp. A friend and I are planning a run down the Trent/Severn waterway next summer from Georgian bay to Peterborough. We hatched this plan over a few shots of Crown Royal so it has to be a good one!

Here are a few day cruisers at the LaConner boat show this last Saturday. The Skagit 31ft was there in the water. A really beautiful boat

As long as the topic is up. Where do you draw the lines between a cruiser, day-cruiser? I'd say an actual cruiser has an aft helm and second windshield on top of the cabin. Although many of these smaller ones would be hard to actually live in for very long. The difference between a day-cruiser and a hard top runabout, would be if the seats can be converted to beds or not. Thoughts?

Re:Calling all Day-Cruisers! 13 years 4 months ago #41163

Ya i guess the Wizard would be a hard top runabout....but the seats do convert to bed!!!lol :P

You did say hardtops also:

jepstr67 wrote:

Anyway, the reason for the thread it to ask for photos of day cruisers. If you have a hardtop boat, please post up a picture.

Todd

You can sleep on the Wizard, but prob not for many nights.
Id say it depends on what kind of conversion you were going for?!

I have 2. The Cottage is my Main boat although I have not done any boating this year bar any lake tests for other people. The 25 foot Barnegat I got last year needs a paint job and fresh varnish.
They are both on the mkt I really love The Cottage (20 foot Seacamper 570).
That Skiff Craft is real sweet. I was looking at those before my Cruisers Inc. That Marlin is cool as well.

Actually your Wizard is more what I call a "day" cruiser. Those with and actual cabin closed in with doors seem like cruisers to me. At any rate, my Thunderhawk conversion is going to be a hardtop runabout, in the terms now outlined. (relax Lee, I'll just bolt or clamp the roof on so it can be undone)

The Glasspar Seafair Sedans made between 1959 and 1967. They are lightweight so you can pull them on a trailer with most any vehicle, easy to maintain, fast with mininum power, good on fuel and they ride and cut the waves like a dream. Only 17 1/2 ft they have sitting headroom in cabin large enough for two adults to sleep comfortably in closed weather proof cabin. I own 14 boats and the Sedan is the one I use and enjoy boating in the most. Great boat.

This is crazy......How about say...hardtop with enclosed cabin, or hardtop with open cabin.

Either way these "hardtop" boats are my all time favorites and asking for pics of these has selfishly been awesome for me.
I'm enjoying this thread just for pics of my favorite boats!!

I like your boat. I like mine too. I just don't understand breaking the topic as far down as it appears to be broken down to. Open Boat/runabout/ cuddy cruiser/cabin cruiser.
They are all cool.

I'll work on that. I have to get the junk out from around it first.

That is very interesting. Very nice top! I was just debating today whether the rear should be positive or negative slant. The negative slant looks nice. Thanks for posting those.

Say, those of you who have the under 20' cruisers, how are they set up? The Sea Lion claims availability of a, cabin bulkhead, and a head were optional. I'm not sure where the head would be placed. I'm curious where I might fit some simple cooking facilities in a small cruiser like these. With all the great, efficient, appliances invented in the last 10 years, coupled with solar power and an inverter, the possibilities are exciting.
