I was just wondering if there was anybody out there that has any experience with getting rid of the scratches on older boat windshields? Has anybody used that new "stuff" that's suppossed to clean up the lenses on automobile headlights? Do you think it would work on my boat? Mine are not too bad but they could be better. I would hate to make them worse. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bob

I used some of the Rain-x headlight repair and it worked great on the headlights on my girlfriends car. It consisted mainly of increasingly fine grit sanding pads and some sort of solution to get rid of the clouding and yellowing of the lens as well as a conditioner. Im going to give it a shot on the windshield of my Uniflite here in the next week or so. The sanding pads they give in the kit are only like 2" squares so im going to go with some wet/dry 1500-3000 grit and see if i get the same results.

I just use a big ol electric buffer and some of the 3M finishing compound I buff my paint jobs with. Works great for me.

Some people are like slinkies... Not much good for anything, but they sure are fun to push down the stairs.

Will the finishing compound also take out the yellowing?

Here's a kit from folks that know how to do restorations:

Thanks for the replies. I believe I'll give that stuff from Eastwood a try and see what happens. Bob
