What do most of you do for the steering? Use the old coated cable or put a new single cable and if so which brand? If you use the old cable pully system where do you get cable?
Thanks great site lots of info.

The type of steering you use depends on the HP. You should not use cable and pulley on anything over 50 HP. (yes, I know people do it.)

me too. had a 1967 Mercury 1100 (110 HP) on a boat from 1967 to about 1996 and never had any problems with cable/pulley steering. cable was replaced at least once in that time period.
