TOPIC: Bought 1967 larson all-american today

Bought 1967 larson all-american today 15 years 3 weeks ago #30799

I decided not to buy the other unidentified larson because no title. Seemed to be hassel to get a replacement in Florida. So I picked up this all-american. Just need to rebuild engine, paint and reupholster (refurbish chrome). I do like the '67 pea green, but would rather pain it the blue they used in '67. Would a color change damage future resale value? Or make it an easier sale with a popular color?

"A": You are really the owner ,so what ever Floats your boat is the way to enjoy the package. .Since you asked about future resale $$, I would say the period Inboard / outboard would hold off a large volume of buyers. Outboard motors are easy & less expensive for the home-owner type mechanic then early outdrives. One could re-rig a outboard 70hp size ,less than 30 minutes.

. If the top deck light green is still good cond I would save for now. The dark green seats might be the 1st to go ,& if you went with all white (?) then you are set for what ever color you like.

. Again a classic boat , with a more modern Four stroke outboard seems to be gaining attention. Guys have retro -fitted older top COWL's over new engines.

Split thanks for response. I think I have decided to rebuild original mercruiser 120. Found another running 120 for dirt cheap and parts for this engine seems to be cheap enough and readily available.

I've got a 1970 Starcraft with the I/O mercruiser in it. I've got the 140 hp or the 3.0. You should get good gas mileage with it.

New outdrive is pretty resonable from SEI upper and lower about $600 each. There are a lot of these old chevy's laying around so parts are plentiful.
