My parents had boats we used in the ponds near Rochester NY where I grew up. Now I have a place on Lake Ontario (Near Oak Orchard) and will use the boat mainly for fishing. Needed something small and light I could tow with my Scion and this was the perfect fit! Not a lot of information on Steury's around so looking for any things to watch for in the boat.

There is a little info in the Glassic Library.Price in 1962 etc.Iboats.com has a seperate forum for most boat companys including Stuery. Go to boating forums,located near the bottom of that window.Not a lot of recent posting but it is a start. More info as far as restoring and help right here. I saw that boat listed in the Rochester CL, nice ride.Looks like the Bimini is set up for fishing comfort.What year is the Merc? I have a 73-50hp that has not been run in 12 years,spring project.As far as I know they are sweet running machines.Going on the kids waterfowl boat.I live hallfway between Buffalo and Batavia so I am always looking at the listings in Roc/Syracuse/Finger Lakes/Ithaca/Erie/Elmira/Buf/Cleveland etc.Anything within 300 miles is close for me.

Motor is original to the boat, its a 65, yep I scooped her up from a young guy in sodus, who purchased it from the original owner I believe. Boat is in amazing shape. I live in Rochester and have a place in Barker NY which is right about where you must be? I have been looking an 16 foot and smaller boats for 4 months trying to find just the right one, I think I got it!

Actually live in Clarence, 1/2 hour from Lake Erie/Niagara river and the Erie canal. 45 minutes from Lake Ontario, Olcott,Wilson and the lower Niagara.Nice to have two Great Lakes and the mighty Niagara to fish and cruise on.I do have two 1966 65 hp that are basically the same as your 50. I guess points are the only issue and that consists of putting new ones in after a couple hundred hours of use.

One boat I named before we had established a long term relationship. After I had the decals put on her my fishing buds along with myself started calling her a different name.It just was her demeanor shinning through.At that point it was too late to change her legal name. The moral is do not be in a hurry to permantly tag a name on her untill you spend some quality time on the water.

She is quick motor is great, takes the waves ok, as good as can be expected by a 14 foot boat, without fail I tanked the prop into some rocks ( gave her a lot of gas in 5 foot of water and the ass end dove right down )

So I repaired the prop but need a new one and I will keep this as a backup.

I can't wait for warmer weather here in WNY

I'm new to "FiberGlassics", was told my boat was a 1976 Steury 14' 6" long -there's a picture of it on my profile. The styling is very similar to yours, except yours looks brand new, and mine is more of a "rescue me from dire neglect" project. That said, the old Johnson 55hp motor fires right up and runs like a champ. And the boat handles great in the water.
