Mine looked like that not too long ago... As did a portion of my driveway. I got most of it out of the shop, but there is still some on the driveway!

At least it's a festive shade :)

My garage will never be free of fiberglass, body fill, primer and paint dust Doug. Mine looked somewhat like yours not too long ago... :P

I have been thinking a lot about this. What is in gel-coat? Are there toxins that one needs to be concerned about when sanding? Obviously I will be using a proper respirator, but what will I be leaving around on the lawn for the kids and dog to ingest?

Doug has been at this a long time Andrew, I feel pretty sure that stuff will get swept up and bagged in the trash. Good point though, gotta be careful about who is exposed to the "byproducts of progress". Lookin good Doug!

You are right Mark. I was not trying to hyjack the thread or anything :) It is looking good and I am eager to make a mess just like it next summer. Just curious what "it" actually is from a chemical composition point.

I'm not sure what's in gel coat. I just blow it out the door and let the rain take care of it. I'm not very environmentally friendly I'm afraid.. :dry:

So far my cats, dogs, and chickens are still alive and kicking.. Oh yeah, the kids too!

You know what they say/ The bigger the mess the more work that got done. As far as the toxins go wet sanding could reduce dust. My garage was blue when I was at it. Atleast your lucky and working on a boat right now. Thanks for sharing. HMmmm, Im wondering if lead was ever used in gel coat, MIke
