TOPIC: Can you help me identify this one?

Can you help me identify this one? 14 years 9 months ago #2000

Hello everyone
Was wondering if the lines could spark a memory as to the manufacturer of this boat. Approximately 15' NO Nomenclature or emblems to be found, just standard boat hardware of the era. Found it on Denver CL and have an offer on it. Would like to research it a little if you can point me in the right direction.
As always, thanks in advance

Looks like a Tomahawk Ski Mate 1958 or 1959. Here is a Pic of a restored 59 Ski Mate owned by a fellow AOMCI member (didn't look like this when I sold it to him!!!)

If it is skimate it should be 14' if spirit 15'.
Spirit of tomahawk has a less prominent start to the fin than the skimate. If it has the plate on the inside it might have the model #. See the scanned data sheet in the boats section under Tomahawk.
The flat bow with molded seat base is usually 58 or 59. 60 and 61 had raised structure on the bow and the flat floor. 58's had plastic screw on emblems on fins and 59 had stickers so should be evidence of screw holes on the inside of the fins. All info is what I have found so far and I am happy to be corrected.

Thanks Eric

Thanks for the replies
I guess the first thing to do is whip out the tape measure and get an accurate length. Also look around for any hidden ID plate.
My first thought was the windshield was not stock due to the low profile.
Could be wrong there.

I'll let you know what I find out as the day progresses.

Plate wasn't hidden. if it is there it is on the port side of the transom in the splashwell. it will not say what the boat is but it might have the model number stamped into the tag. Both were rated for 65 hp but the spirit capacity is 1200 and the skimate is 1025.

Thanks again, I will see what I can find.
The hull currently sports a frozen 35hp merc.
I was hoping there was a 65 on there.
Couldn't really tell from their CL pics.
It is, what it is...

So the owner took my offer, and I got her home without incident.
The ruler says 14 feet.
The data plate that should be affixed to the splashwell is gone.
I can see where there are screw holes for the missing emblems on the fins.
I guess that makes her an early Ski Mate.

The 1963 35 merc has a frozen power-head.
The lower unit is in good shape. Anybody need one?

I'm gonna spend the day cleaning her up and posting her local for resale
No paperwork on the boat or trailer, but both are relatively easy to obtain.
Anyone interested? If so, let me know. I could hold it for an FG member maybe a month.....

Sounds like a 58 skimate. Was there any hardware with it or is it all stripped down? could you post a pic of the bow showing the screw holes for the deck. Thanks Eric

I think all of the hardware is there, minus the emblems and data plate.
The bow light, winged bow cleat, step plates, light, etc., are all there.
The hull accent aluminum trim is there and in pretty good shape.
Was there something in particular you were looking for?

I will some pics, later today. I want to clean her up first.

No I am not looking for anything. I was just curious. It seems the 58 have handle on the bow that pushes the bow light back. The other years all have a bow light and cleat only. just wanted to see if yours would confirm that.
Thanks Eric

Lar, that is a FiberFlyte. I just passed on a white and orange one last month here in Tallahassee. Nice boats, but I didn't need to spend for another boat at the time. It went for $600.00 with trailer and 1962 v-4 75hp Johnson.

Jim
What is / was a FiberFlyte?

Near as I can tell, the boat I have here is a Tomahawk Skimate.
Matches up with everything that has been said already, and the brochures.

Sorry guys for those who have been interested.
I have yet to get any pics.
I've spent the last few days cleaning up a 75 Glastron CV-16 I have for sale. I need more space.
Where is my forty acres and a mule?

That's a beauty of a Glastron you have there. I've got 30 acres. You can store it here for a few years ;)

Some people are like slinkies... Not much good for anything, but they sure are fun to push down the stairs.
