TOPIC: OMC Electric Shift Stern Drive Identification

OMC Electric Shift Stern Drive Identification 15 years 3 months ago #15132

I just purchased and 18.5 ft MFG Caprice with an OMC I/O. The power plant is a 225 cid Buick V-6. I have looked in the engine bay for some type of OMC model number, but have yet to find any. According to the title this boat has 220 hp power plant. f anyone knows for certain how to identify exactly what I have, I would sure appreciate the help.

Welcome aboard fufulygu, if you can post some pics it would certainly help. Sounds like either somebody did an engine swap or there's a typo on your paperwork? I know they do get some pretty impressive HP out of today's V6 engines, but something just doesn't sound right with your numbers there.

I'll try to get some pics in the next day or two. I agree that 220 hp sounds unlikely. It seems more likely to be in the neighborhood of 155 hp.
