TOPIC: 70 year old motor to the rescue

70 year old motor to the rescue 15 years 7 months ago #13977

Took the boat out yesterday and got out in the middle of the lake and my 1959 40hp Elgin quit. So fired up the 1940 1 1/2 hp Evinrude and trolled for 3 1/2 hour on it. Hey that little old motor got us up to 3mph. Now thats pushing 700lbs plus. Not bad for motor as old as I am. Just love these old motors . It got us back to the dock and thats all that counts

Nicely done! Never a bad idea to have a get-me-home motor tucked away somewhere... I carry one early and late season in the tinny when calling for help isn't an option...
