TOPIC: Do you know what this boat is?

Do you know what this boat is? 14 years 4 months ago #13630

I have no idea what this boat is. I've had it since 1986. The man who owned it before me died and I am unable to find out anything about it. It resembles a 1956/57 Desoto. The taillights, I'm told, are 1954 Ford lenses.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
James

WELCOME JAMES: Those pics are quite tiny, but I believe they have been posted many times before. The rear style looks like the few BARNES (New Paris , Ohio) that have been found.

.The front deck with the big bubble is not very common to something documented.?? Any plans , 24 years and not much work .
I do have a e-mail for the grand son of that Barnes family business, unless he finds more models than the shark.. Maybe some one else will give you a fresh lead.

I have no Idea what it is! I would like to add it to my collection though. If you are at all considering selling please let me know. It seams to me Kainer boats have a grip handle like that.

Had a nice long talk with Jim,, there is alot of difference between the barnes when you get the pics side by side, but it is neat,he is undecided on what he is doing with it but had a neat nancy reagan story with it when he saved it,it has a few bullet holes but would have had more, Bill

Below is a link to a previous post in which a somewhat similar (though non-finned) boat was posted. That was listed as a "1955 Kainer" which is unlikely the boat manufacturer since Kainer was a hardware manufacturer.
