TOPIC: First restoration

First restoration 14 years 4 months ago #13566

Well this 1961 Dorsett Ski-Bird is the second power boat I have owned and the first one worth restoring. I am new to the power boat world as I have bee a sailor for 20 years. Now that I have kids its time to be more family friendly.

I found the Dorsett on Kijiji for free. when I saw her she was rough but the lines are beautiful and with my "rose colored glasses" I could see her on the water fully restored (my light at the end of the tunnel) My first boat came with a 1970 Evinrude Ski twin 33hp which is is out at the shop getting tuned, even though the years of the boat and motor dont match the motor has a classic look which I think will look good.

I will post pictures as I begin my work and would welcome comments and any constructive criticism.

Cheers, Mike

Good luck with your project boat Mike, glad to have you aboard. We'll look forward to seeing pics and getting updates as you come along with it. Have you checked out the pubs in the library on the Bird?

Edit - just saw the other thread, guess you have seen the pub!
