Welcome. Ah Nova Scotia is one of my favorite places. I circumnavigated the entire province several years ago in my RV. Loved Cape Brenten. Peggy's Cove, Halifax. Didn't go too far into the interior.
As for your project it should be an enjoyable one. Those boats are a well made sturdy platform. There are several here who have done the Johnson/Evinrude early '60s. You can probably search the site and find many pages and pictures.
