TOPIC: 20’ Mckee Craft re-power question…

20’ Mckee Craft re-power question… 1 year 11 months ago #147571

Currently I have twin, non-counter rotating, 1972 Evinrude Lark 50hp outboards hung from her. Manual tilt/trim. Not a bad setup, but steering is twice the pain and its twice the maintenance. Max out around 35mph on a slight chop.

I have purchased a single 1976 Chrysler 90hp as a replacement. Power tilt/trim.

The Chrysler weighs about 225lbs. The ‘Rudes weigh about 365lbs for the pair. I feel like the loss of 10hp is mostly negated by the weight savings. Anyone have a different opinion, or know of any positives/negatives for this type of change?
