Hey All,

Can finally check one off my list. This event is certainly something to see and is Mecca for Old Mercs and Old Guys. Never saw so many congregate in one place.

Best Classic Boat and Motor went to a FiberGlassic and wanted to share.

1959 Volksboat with 59 Merc.

Showed as part of the K&O Toy Motor display which also won Best Display.

I should have taken more pictures.

Saw same boat at Minnesota Lakes Maritime Museum in Alexandria and was restored to museum quality by our friend 59Herters.

Heard this Chrysler out there tearing up the river. Sound sent shivers and lucked out and got a decent shot.

Too cool!

Aluma craft was the featured boat this year and they had a good turnout.

Old friend Roger trailered his rare 1947 Model B up from Paducah.

Roger and Mal de mer have been featured on the cover of Field and Stream while out fishing on Kentucky Lake.

And I know I got a picture of them in a Canadian Club ad somewhere but I gotta dig for it.

Went for a late afternoon cruise on the Wisconsin River. Look out for the rocks!

Old Merc guys friend John McIntosh from Vintage Mercury Outboards.

This guy was racing when he turns off the motor, starts paddling and actually won here as he crossed the finish.

It’s all fun stuff.

That is the land of the small fishing boats, like Aluma Crafts. The reasons are obvious. Beautiful country. That is what seperates the true lake boaters from us big river boaters. I didn't realize the difference until I got involved in the classic boat world. We all have our comfort zones with what we grew up with. Terry, I should get you up here on the upper Mississippi sometime for a cruise.

Hello Bill,

Yeah, Mama Mia! was the big boat on this little cruise.

Somo River is all no wake but it's real pretty up there.

It’s great fun running rivers and is what I like best.

They don’t get any bigger than the Mighty Mississippi. We boated at Muscatine IA years back.

Adds challenges you won’t necessarily find on lakes. US Lock & Dam 16

Del showing off the Volksboat on the Mississippi.

Thanks,
Terry

That Volksboat isn't much boat on the river now days. Our family cottage is just about 2 miles below Lock 6 at Trempealeau, Wisconsin. About 17 miles from our house in La Crosse. It is 20 minutes away, and a Million Miles !!! My favorite time of day for a ride is early in the morning with a cup of coffee before all of the morons put their pieces of crap that put out the 3 foot waves in the water and spoil it for everyone else. They have no clue what they do to other boats, docks and shoreline and that they are responsible.

If you could turn the first picture 180 degrees you could probably see pur dock in the distance ! We have had our cottage for over 50 years, so I know that part of the river like the back of my hand. On Google maps it is just north of Twin Bluffs Bar on Swan Lane
