TOPIC: Any recommendations on window tape, butyl? Foam?

I need help figuring out wich type of sealant tape to use when installing my plexiglass cuddy windows. It's got a trim piece that is bolted over the plexiglass wuch looks like 1/16" - of sealer on each side of the plexiglass. I read butyl tape is good but wondering how much it Squashes down. Thanks
