TOPIC: Rainy Day Bow Light LED Project

Rainy Day Bow Light LED Project 5 years 3 weeks ago #141495

Found a reproduction original type bow light for the Resorter. Well made unit, but the bulb socket was held in using a wad of black rope caulk, like the 3m window/body sealer rope caulk. Disappointing, but at least the body and lenses were well made so I decided to do an LED conversion using an Attwood unit. Some planning, test fitting and time w/ a Dremel and modeling saws.

Came out quite well, the lights are bright and the pattern is compliant. I attached the Attwood base to the light body using 5200 and the LED unit attaches to the base w/ the original screw so there is no major disassembly to replace.

Here are some pics:

Thanks all, it was a bit less effort than I anticipated as the bow light housing is fairy good sized.
Obligatory night shot! (iPhone makes the green look blue)

Where'd you find the "reproduction original type bow light?" Nice job on the retrofit.

Hi, thanks. A & A Marine in Manistee. Nice guys, but a bit hard to get a hold of. They occasionally list them on fleaBay under Horse Head Traders.

To convert many bow lights and stern lights, we stock a LED light bulb correct for many vintage navigation lights: www.fergusonpoolemarine.com/electricalignition.html
