TOPIC: 1963 OMC 17' duel deluxe

1963 OMC 17' duel deluxe 5 years 4 months ago #140636

Hello. I am new to this site. I created an account in hope of getting some info and direction....My grandfather gave me his 1963 boat. He was original owner, purchased at the san fran boat show in 63'. I've been told and researched a few things, not much info, that I could find. I have been told they are rare, having both motors, V4 twin 90hp, because people got them upgraded with 6 cyl. The boat is super cool! Any info would be greatly appreciated. I don't mind doing the research.

I know all about them. I own two (1 is for sale), sold a third and am currently restoring a 4th. The engines are 88 HP, 2-cycle OMC outboard engines turned on their sides. Originally, oil was fed from a separate tank to mix with the gas. Don't ever trust that system...no oil, no engine! Get rid of it and use premixed gas. The windshield is classic. It opens with an electric motor mounted under the dash. The glass is actually the rear window of a Studebaker. Don't attempt to run the engines with the fuel tanks as received. Remove them and take them to a radiator shop and have them cooked-out.

I have all the parts available that you will ever need, including spare engines. As far as I've been able to tell, there are no Dual Deluxes up and running anywhere. Got any photos?

I believe it's an early 1960s Studebaker Lark windshield but if you need a windshield, I have an extra one.

I'm in western SC. I have no idea what the windshield is worth. It's not like there's a market for them. I had a set of covers for a V6 that were rough. I didn't need them, nobody wanted them and they took up a lot of space so I kept the ss hinges and took the covers to the landfill last April. I do have an extra cover for the Dual Deluxe if you know of anyone who's looking.
