Hey Merc Guys,

Am I going goofy or is this just wrong?

This is in the 1965 and prior Master Service Manual.

The picture of the cap indicates that 76 ci engines (Merc 800) plug wires follow the outer numbers. The firing order would then be a 1-6-5-4-3-2 which is correct for the Merc 700 according to the data chart.

The 800 chart shows 1-4-5-2-3-6, which is also shown on the powerhead, and would actually be the middle numbers on the cap which is labeled for the 1100 & 950.

Thanks,
Terry

Yeah I am goofy. Looking at this and not considering the second set of points so never mind.

Please delete this idiot post. We should all get a mulligan.;)

Thanks,
Terry
