TOPIC: 68/69 Mercury 1250 125hp/ need help

Need some help finding out how to identify the model of my 1968/69 Mercury 1250 125hp out board motor (I'd # 2655457)...
How do I determine which models it is.????

If you find the model name "TYPHOON" embossed om the starboard side of the block, aft of the block to crankcase seam,,,It is a 1250.
I "think" is is bossed on cylinder 3 - not sure.
The 1250 has unique transfer port covers too, so if you post a picture of the starboard side of the block, someone will confirm or deny it being a 1250.
If you have a sweet one,...Limit it RPMs to 5400, and with the correct oil and gasoline, it will treat you right.
It is kinda like to old school Chevy 409,...Limit the RPMs or face destruction.

Based on your picture,...I suspect it is a 1969 1250.
Not much difference between the 1968 & 1969 that is noteworthy.
The exhaust tuning was evolving in 1968 &1969, but the 99ci cross-flow 1250 was the last of the inline-6 cross-flows.
The direct-charge 99ci inline-6 Mercs quickly proved to survive and perform better.
Until Mercury finally opened their blinders to the loop-charge principles, the direct charge technology was what was produced.
