TOPIC: Seat Foam

Hello,
I am having what I think are the original seats in my 59 Trailerboat reupholstered. What type of foam should I use. I am having a friend who has a small custom upholstery shop do the work. He mostly does cars, but I've seen a lot of boats that he has done. I went to the local foam shop and the lady recommended ordering a sheet of retriculated foam. The original seats had 1/2" of foam on plywood. I'm thinking of increasing the thickness to one or two inches. I see this foam for sale on Ebay.

This is where I got the foam sheets when I redid my upholstery.

I did mine using the same foam as 63 Sabre. A half inch under your butt isn't near enough. Go for the 2 inch stuff IMHO.

Thanks! I just ordered some. I got 3" for the seat bases and 2" for the seat backs.

You won't be disappointed. Used the 2" for the sides and back seat bottoms,
Easy to cut to shape using an electric knife, like the kind used in your kitchen for carving the Thanksgiving turkey. Sneak it out to you workroom.
