Can anyone help identify this boat? 14 years 4 months ago #12532

Hello, Can anyone identify this boat? Sorry for the poor pictures. Only markings on it is the name on the control panel on the dash and that is Gale. Pictures attached.

Thanks!

Although you model is not shown in the brochures, it appears to be a late 50's early 60's Whitehouse. I have seen several on here with that fin design and deck treatment. They made several models that had the same hull design just with different deck and fin styles. Also, Whitehouse made boats for Montgomery wards I believe it was so it might be one of those models. Either way, Whitehouse and Whitehouse's spinoff brands would be the trail to follow.

Gale was the engine model at one time and is not the brand or model name of the boat. Gale was basically a Johnson/Evinrude, but was a little different look and colors.

Someone else will chime in soon. If you have some more pics showing better details of the fins, dash, nose, motor well area, etc please post them as they will all help in identifying it. Welcome aboard!
Doug

Some people are like slinkies... Not much good for anything, but they sure are fun to push down the stairs.

Hope I am not breaking any like copywrite laws but based on classicfin's lead I found this... The Polynesian sure looks like the same hull... mabye a model sold by Wards as a package with the Gale motor and name on it. Wish I could establish a year.. Thanks again...

Truthfully, I have no idea what it is, but it is cute. More pictures taken outside would give us a better idea of how it looks, buy from what I see, it looks well preserved. If the dash says Gale, it must have Gale power?

Hello again,

After looking at this gal I did go ahead and buy it and am still looking for any information you experts may have on her. Here are some better pictures after a bit of basic clean up.

Thanks again, Al

Re:Can anyone help identify this boat? 14 years 4 months ago #12635

its definatly before 1963,gale went out of bussiness in 63,but the parts are the same as ,johnson/evinrude,mostly.
im not sure what the boat is ,but i would guess late 50s or very early 60s.
my 1964 seaking cabin cruiser had a 1963 ,60 hp gale motor, but it was badged as a seaking(montgomery wards brand name for boats),by the way my seaking was built by starcraft, but i dont think yours was,i think classic fins is right

Here is a pic of a 1959 or 60 Whitehouse I restored. The curved transom and front deck treatment look the same. In any case, she's a nice little boat and you will have fun!!! Mike.
