I need a new Emblem/name plate for my Sea King. One is perfect, the other must have been dockside. It seems they don't exist anywhere to buy a new one. I was thinking 3D printing? Has anyone had any luck with this or how have you reproduced yours?

I don't know if he'd do it, but it's worth a shot...go to www.omcboats.org and contact Andrew Gleason agleason is his screen name. He casts OMC emblems, so maybe he can do yours.

I haven't done anything boat related, but I have 3D printed little knick-nacks a few times. I don't see why it wouldn't work granted you can use a 3D scanner to get the nice emblem into the rendering program.

McMaster Carr has molding putty and casting plastics. It could be a fairly simple project.

I did the McMaster route for my cousins Pearson sailboat emblems. Use the aluminum filled resins for stronger parts.
